Super Kid's Log Post 2

Hello Readers!

Well today was another uneventful day in the world of retail. That is a relief for me because that means everything went according to plan and I did not have to encounter any disgruntle customers today woohoo. Speaking of disgruntle customers I had one yesterday.

Now I've had my fair share of dumb idiotic customers before but this guy takes the cake (both figuratively and literally!) So at my place of work we usually give out a "FREE" gift with purchase each week. Now each week is something different and we the employees have NO CONTROL whatsoever over what the free item happens to be and how much you must spend. Like most big box organizations the place I work at is also franchised i.e. we have no say over the promotions i.e. the big heads of the company who live somewhere on the east coast determine that.

So this week our free promotion was to give away fruit with over a $100 purchase. This guy came in thinking if he purchases over $200 he would get a free $25 gift card. He asks me what the free item is and I tell him. Then he gets all snarly with me and tells me that EVERY TIME he comes he ALWAYS receives a free $25 gift card. So apparently he doesn't believe me and asks to speak to my manager. Then he starts going off on her and repeating the same story over. She tells him that he probably just lucked out and every time he came it happened to be the free gift card promotion. Then he starts saying why he should not just go and start shopping at the competitors store. I was ready to dare him but being the sweet cashier that I am I just kept my mouth shut. There's no way he would last shopping at the competitors because he would be broke - besides none of the competitors would give him a free gift card EVERY time he shopped there.

The point of this rant is that customers shouldn't expect to get free things everytime they come shopping at the store and they should not think they will get gift cards all the time because reality is there is always someone else that can replace snob customers. Its not the service that keeps the customers coming to the organization I work at its the prices! In today's economy most people are more likely to shop with the company that employs me because it saves them financially.

For now the organization I work for will be kept a secret until someone figures out what company it is OR if I get tired of keeping it a mystery i'll just tell you folks.

thanks for reading!
